Student Council Presidents Selected!
Student Council President Winners
New Holland Knowledge Academy hosted its Student Council Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 3. Students were excited to cast their votes and have their voices heard. The Student Council consists of three representatives from third, fourth, and fifth grades. The candidates included eight 3rd grade presidential candidates, nine 4th grade presidential candidates, and four 5th grade presidential candidates on the ballot.
Prior to the school election, students created campaign speeches that were recorded and shared with grade level classes. Some campaigns were based on getting more ice cream choices, adding more time in the morning to talk with teachers, allowing more creativity with math and reading, and being able to have more one-on-one time with teachers. Students casted their ballots on Election Day and received an "I Voted" sticker. Ms. Tannia Wood, Ms. Natalie Niles, Mrs. Courtney Glasper, and Mrs. Amanda Teasley served as official poll workers. They ensured that students knew the rules and maintained their distance at the polls. The winners were Yanni Pacheco (5th grade President), Leonardo Chavez (4th grade President), and Omar Mejia (3rd grade President). Congratulations to each of the winners and candidates for their participation in the presidential campaign. This was a great opportunity for New Holland students to understand the importance of practicing their rights to vote while showing that their votes (and voices) matter within their school.
